My story is not much different than yours. While our experiences may vary we are all familiar with sin and the realities of living in a broken world.
After leaving the orphanage at almost 17, I did get my license to be a hairstylist. I did that work on and off for 36 years. As I listened to thousands of women’s unique stories God established in me a desire to come alongside those who were broken and hurting.
God made me like a butterfly, able to flitter around from person to person. I have a gift for making people feel safe and open up. If I speak to 500 women or stop for the one, my heavenly Father uses me to minister to hurting hearts.
Because I was so broken and had so much fear, insecurity and anxiety in my early adult years I have a passion to help women run to their Heavenly Father for peace, comfort and healing.
When I am not speaking I enjoy being with my husband Ron, and our dog Rosie. We have a little place in North Carolina we go to when the heat in Florida is so stifling. We love to walk, hike and read. I enjoy a good romance movie, historical fiction is my favorite whether it’s a movie or book. We have fallen in love with the Smoky Mountains as our second home!
We lost our first daughter Mellisa Joy at birth, who is waiting to greet us in Heaven. Then two years later we were blessed with our beautiful daughter Laura Michelle. Laura and our wonderful son-in-law Nate will be blessing us with our first grandchild in the Summer of 2024!
Because I can chit chat with anyone, I will stop and pray as the Holy Spirit leads. I love encouraging people, its so amazing to see women’s lives transformed and set free from the lies they believe about themselves.
I’ve come to realize that people are my passion! God has taken my tumultuous past and transformed it into a beautiful platform to reach others.
Beloved Friend,
It is no small thing that you made it this far. God has a miraculous way of connecting like-hearted, like-minded people.
As you may know, I have a huge burden for those who see themselves as broken. I’m so sorry if this finds you in a time of deep hurting. In the midst of this season, I pray you cling to the hem of Jesus’ garment as opposed to any other counterfeit remedy.
It is easy to grab hold of quick fixes or the carrots so cleverly dangled by the enemy. But if you would take this sorrow you hold and give it to Jesus, I promise that He will lead you to the other side of your struggle. Gracefully. With Him as your strength and shelter, you will be able to look back with an unexplainable level of joy because you were able to rise above that which intended to take you down.
We must always ask ourselves if our choices will advance healing or deepen the wounds. The Lord wants, and died, not only for your salvation but also as an unwavering place for you to find love and the perfect guidance. Suffering is not something we sort out easily, even if self-inflicted. But no one knows us better than The One who created us.
I say all this, because I have found it to be true. With all that I have walked through, my ability to endure has only been found by leaning into the Savior. Retreating from Him when there is struggle has only made me weaker, while drawing near has offered and upheld the enduring truth found in 2 Corinthians 12:9, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.”
I pray you find countless ways to fill your days with Him. God’s Word, prayer, music, reading, and fellowship are remarkable tools that He has provided to nourish us. Whether it is through time with me or elsewhere, of one thing I am certain, it is the Lord who is pointing you to Himself. His hand is outstretched. Will you grab hold?
I pray God’s grace and mercy abounds in your circumstances and you discover the fullness of His love, even when the rain is falling.
With Love,
Debbie
